Cub Scouts: Theme for January is Positive Attitude

Being Cheerful and setting our minds to look for and find the best in all situations.

Look at all the awards we had to pass out! Only 2 boys were not at the Cub Pack meeting. WOW!!! Isn't this great!! Good Job boys. I am getting a bit excited for this calling, I am still nervous and WOW what a crowd we had last night.

Congratulations Joseph!! Joseph earned The Arrow of Light- The Arrow of Light is the highest award a Cub Scout can earn before entering into the Boy Scouts! It was an honor to present our first Arrow of Light to Joseph, I love The Rockwell Family. Joseph was so diligent in listening and it was such a great night.

Here is the yellow arrow we presented him with- I wish I had the picture of the plaque but I didn't.. Can you see the different color of candles! Also their is face paint to the left: These are what each color of candle represents.

Blue- The first band of color is to remind you of the lessons you learned as a Cub Scout

Blue represents the spirit of Cub Scouting : the spirit of giving goodwill and doing your best. Do you promise to fulfill the Cub Scout Promise and the Cub Scout motto, Do Your Best, when you receive the Arrow of Light badge!

Then I put a blue band on Joseph's face.

White- Represents the Scout Law: Youth and adult leaders will cheerfully show you the skills you need, but it will be up to you to live up to the 12 points of the Scout Law. Daily you will be faced with decisions and, at times, the trail will seem most difficult to follow. Make your choices by always remembering the Scout Law. In all you do, do you promise to be forever Trustworthy, Loyal, Helpful, Friendly, Courteous, Kind, Obedient, Cheerful, Thrifty, Brave, Clean and Reverent?

Then I put a white band on Joseph's face.

Yellow- Stands for The Arrow of Light: Within the tee pees of many braves, the Arrow of Light has an honored place. Its shaft is straight and narrow : just as is the path that you Scouts should follow throughout your life. Its tip points the way : the way to success in all that you do. It is pointing to the right : a symbol that nothing should be left undone; if it is within your power to do it, see that it is done. And lastly, this is the symbol of the seven rays of the sun, one for each day of the week; this is to remind you that every day is a new day : a day to Do Your Best in everything:

A day to honor your God and Country,
to do your Good Turn,
a new chance to follow the Scout Law
and to remember these words: On My Honor

Then I put a yellow band of paint onto his face.

Then we had Joseph put the pin on his cute Mom's shirt.

Green- This symbolizes the beginning of your path toward Eagle as a Boy Scout- (then put the green paint on his face) The Den Leader will now lead you to the bridge that connects Cub Scouting with Boy Scouting. As your name is called, cross over the bridge where Boy Scouts will be waiting to welcome you into their troop and present you with the handbooks and neckerchiefs you already have earned through your diligence as Webelos Scouts.

Then Joseph and his Webelos walk across the bridge to meet his group leader (Dillon) and his new Boy Scout leader. Here is the link to the program we used: Arrow of Ligth Ceremony

It was kind of funny, I learned also your not supposed to use candles in the Church buildings!! Oopps!

I had just lit the last one and we were now done with the bridge crossing, I looked at our 2nd counselor and our Home Teacher, they were kind of chuckling and then our Home Teacher mouthed to me to blow out the candles.. I kind of looked at him and then kind of laughed now thinking to myself "Oh, maybe were not supposed to light the candles in the Church". So afterwards I went to apologize and our counselor in the Bishopric said, nah! nah! It's fine.. we had a great laugh. Now we know to change it up with the candles.. we will go and buy those fake candles and put them in the jars we used Ü

I am so glad they did not stop the ceremony, it was SO good and Joseph was really listening. I still cannot believe how many people were in attendance.

Here they are on the bridge, again I should have gotten a better picture: We have another Arrow of Light coming up so I will get better pictures.. Here is cute Joseph and my nephew Dillon, it was great to have Dillon be able to welcome Joseph to Boy Scouts. Next to Joseph is his little sister, then the other sister to him is the little one in the pink. Cute Kitty is one of my Primary kids from last year- sure lover her. Then their is Carlie she is a cutie as well. Cute kids and a fun night.

Did I mention my hubby and brother put this bridge together in one day! When I can I will post a better picture, it's awesome and it's cool how it all goes together. I think they should make them and sell them, we just have to paint it. Great job guys!

I love love LOVE my girls! I LOVE them SO much and I thank the good lord EVERY day for the chance to be their mother, My heart aches every time they leave out the door to go to School, I want them to stay little but I know I have to let them go. So, my thought for today is "Let them be Little", When they are young- LET them, Yes mine are still young but it goes SO SO fast.. I miss my cute babies being young and I often wonder if this is it for our Family, if these 2 beautiful girls will be all the kids into our home that I can all mine. It breaks my heart- I really wanted more children and I still want more but I have been trying hard to come to the terms that I might just be done. I have (me) not Shawn thought of SO many options in my brain.. I have looked into Surrogacy but it is SO SO expensive, I just wish it were easy for me to have babies, those of you who can enjoy it and know how lucky ♣ you are to know you have not failed, I have tried and tried to come with terms of not feeling like a failure but dang it.. Maybe I will never get over it. But for now I focus on these sweet girls who have SO much to offer the world! I need to do my best to make sure they get what they need.

Look how cute these 2 were when they were little, I LOVE them and I just cannot get enough of them.. I cannot believe how fast the time has gone.. Love your kids! Enjoy the days with them, don't worry about your house being clean or what name brands your wearing or your kids are wearing, they will not care 10 years from now.. They want a Mom who is focused on loving them and I hope one day my kids will know just how much I love them.

Cub Scouts

About a month ago Shawn and I received a new calling... CUB SCOUT Cub Masters.. Really, WOW!! Seriously!! I know nothing about Scouts.. Well, just a little bit when my Dad was in teaching.. "Peanut, Peanut, Butter- Jelly", etc. So that said we have been s cowering for information to find, this week we have an Arrow of Light to perform for of one of our cute boys.. That said, we have NEVER done this and Shawn is a bit rusty on it. The sad story to all of this is we do not have any items from the Scout Committee before us (we are in contact but have not heard back). So, we are trying to figure things out.. For Arrow of Light the boys go a across a bridge from Cub Scouts to Boy Scouts... Nobody has a bridge, so guess what were going to try and throw together.. Yep, a bridge Ü I have learned a lot in such a little amount of time, I have learned that I need a suitcase for all the paperwork and awards and information, I have learned I actually enjoy the Scout Store myself and found a hat that I can't wait to have..

It's a bitter sweet calling.. my little guy I lost 7 years ago this past May named Ashton would be going into Scouts this coming May- if he would have lived. So, I am trying to take this as a moment of loving what my son would hopefully enjoyed had he been here.I have really tried to turn my focuses elsewhere, I tell you when you lose a child/baby/etc. Not one day goes by when he is not being thought of. I miss him, I think about him everyday and what he'd be doing, I know now when I look at these boys his age he'd probably be doing the same things as them.

So, I am excited to learn "Cheers", Songs and all the fun stuff that goes along with it, I am so thankful for Shawn's Uncle Bill's wife Marnae: she brought over a box of items that will further our program along a lot more and I appreciate it. Thanks Marnae.

I wish this was a better picture of our bridge, I will see what I can do to take a better one.. Otherwise, it will look cool! I have a creative Hubby! Thanks Babe.

Start to the New Year!

A little late on posting but as they say: Better late then never! So, Our home teacher signed Shawn up for our Stake Basketball for our church, funny thing- our home teacher didn't go... Silly boy! Anyway, Shawn decided he'd better go since he was signed up. Me and my niece went somewhere and we came back home and Shawn's car was home and he was sitting on the porch.. I thought to myself their are 2 things it could be;

1.) Injury

2.) Car problems

Ash my niece then said that Shawn had a phone book in his hands- Great I thought to myself, can we really handle one more thing right now!!! NO joke- It really does feel like one thing after another! So, I walked up the steps to our porch and he asked me what the number was to Urgent care and showed me his ankle- it was SO swollen.. It was seriously HUGE- ICK!! I said I would call. I was so mad because we have no health insurance and were not the jackpot of all jackpots right now. So, I took him up to Urgent Care.. It was frustrating because Shawn forgot his wallet with his photo id, so I had to go all the way back home and go all the way back to Urgent Care.. I thought that it was funny because they took my money but wouldn't take my word. Weird! But I also understand.

So, I got back and Shawn was back in a room.. I went back where he was and he was sitting in a wheelchair.. Then the nurse came in and took him to get an x-ray. He came back and we waited for the Dr. Just hoping it would not be broken, that leads to more tests which leads to more money. I am SO frustrated with the situation we've been put in by individuals... Whatever, I had to vent that out for a second and now to get back on track.

So, the Dr. came back in and said it was a terrible sprane- it would take about 6 weeks to heal; my heart sunk because that put some things on hold for Shawn! But, I try to continue to have Faith! I really am Thankful for what I have, it's such a hard time right now and I am not going to sit and sugar coat how wonderful all is. But I am Thankful for prayer and that I can kneel to my Father in Heaven and be at his mercy.

As for Shawn, I really hope he can recover from this on Sunday our AWESOME home teacher came over and gave him a blessing, we have been SO blessed with a wonderful home teacher and the blessing was beautiful. Thanks Jeff. Here's to Shawn's recovery!!! Sorry babe your hurt I know how frustrating this is for you.

Flash Back Friday.....

I'm trying to get back to my Flashback Friday's since this will be turned into a book, I don't want it to be a boring book Ü

This was Shawn and I back about 7 years ago, I had just found out I was pregnant (w/Ashton). We had so much fun, I loved going places with Shawn, this is with blonde hair also... I haven't been blonde for about 3 years or so now! I have always been a blonde, it's fun to look back at pictures. San Diego is SO beautiful, we weren't there a long time so we only had a few days to look at some sites, this was the time when Shawn was in School and he was working on his thesis. I am closing my eye's in the top picture- oh! well, I love you Shawn and I am SO glad to have you in my life. Shawn is such a WONDERFUL guy. I cannot wait to take some more trips with him, someday...

Ok, so I am a BzzAgent- I do not get paid to be a BzzAgent but I do however get to sample products and then talk about them One of my last products was Private Selection, it's fun because this product is a Kroger brand- I can go into Smith's and pick it up, another great thing about this product is that they have a variety of products, meals etc. I do have to say the pizza is not for a Family of 4- there is only enough for 2 servings but the pizza was really good- The crust was the best part Ü The appetizer was good, my hubby said he wasn't a big fan of it, now we know to try something different! Now, the dessert- were eclairs' My 6 year old did not like them but my 9 year old did, So funny how different each child is. I would like to try other meals that the Private Selection has. I did notice throughout the store that Private Selections has many products, I never noticed this before..

Bzzing is so much fun and I am glad I get to do it!!

One year OLDER!!!

And wiser too Ü

So Yesterday was my birthday!! I wasn't thrilled to be a year older, but I have no control over my age right!!! SO, that said~ I turned 36... Yep, I am now closer to 40 then I am to 30! YIKES!! So anyways, it started off as a great morning- I take my girls' to School every morning but Shawn said he would take the girls yesterday morning so I could get ready to go and to what I was SO excited to do when I was 16 years old.. That's to get my driver's license. Only, it was a lot more fun to get it when your 16- renewing is not so much fun.. But it had to be done!!

~Backing up a little tiny bit: Buzy was having a VERY hard time with her dad taking them to School, she was crying all the way through morning prayers.. She wanted me to take her- I said but Dad wants to take you, she said but I am used to you taking me all the time.. So, they left and she cried, Shawn said that the cute Principal helped Bryhn and walked her to her class because she was so upset! Poor buzy!! She is my baby.

So, Shawn and I were driving and the sun was out SO bright so I pulled down my visor as Shawn knew that I would and a card landed on the ground.. I opened it up and it was a cute card- I will have to insert a picture of it in a bit, there was also a gift card to Barnes N Nobles (luv ♥ that place). So, we went to breakfast at kneaders- it was yummy!

We then went to Barnes N Nobles I was able to get a few books, I have a list on my cell phone of one's I would like but they had none of them.. So, I will have to go to Amazon for those one's Ü I have a goal of reading as many books as I can this year including the scriptures! So, after we went their we went over to my parents house and spent some time there with my Dad, it's always fun to sit and talk with my parents: I love my Family so much!

My dad gave me a million dollars- aren't you so Jealous!! Could you even imagine getting this for real's!!Well, I cannot... But it's the thought that counts right!

So afterwards we made our way to the School to pick up the kids since it was early day! After that we went to lunch at La Hacienda I ♥ Mexican food, we decided to stay with in our city and support them! Afterwards we went over to See's.. I was able to get some candy (choc/nuts) Love them!! Afterwards we went home..It was a really fun day.. My family had a little party for me and my sister in law made my birthday cake- you don't get to see the cake until they sing happy birthday!! I must say I LOVE the cake, Steph does such an awesome job~ If you need a cake let her know..

Not my best look, but what do ya do!! It's a party and you have to blow out the candles.. This year on my cake I turned 1 Ü isn't that awesome, Thanks Steph LOVE the cake.. ♥U!

Love the cake, we had mexican dinner! Yep, Yummy!! It's probably the first day that I have had 3 meals.. Ha! Ha!

Thanks for the Birthday loves on fb as well, I wanted to post a few of them because I thought they were sweet and I think every now and then we all need some pick me ups!

Then my sweet friend Letti brought over a homemade treat- she makes the best desert, I tell you it's the Idaho girls- they know how to cook.. Ask Steph~ She is Awesome at it.

So long 2011

Well, I must say I am pretty happy in MANY ways to say goodbye to 2011- I cannot wait to have a better year, though I know it can ALWAYS be worse.. Here are some things that happened in the year of 2011:

~ Last December my brother and sister in law moved into our home with there 3 1/2 kids..

my brother was laid off from his job in Las Vegas so we moved them up here- well my Mom, brother etc. did Shawn and I were not able to do so... We were busy in our home getting our basement done so that they would have somewhere to stay, we had AWESOME ward members who came in and helped with the work and we Thank you and appreciate you! While they were moving here Shawn and I were at some good Friends home- The Fullers at a Christmas Party- Well... we got a phone call that our basement was flooding- yep, new basement etc. flooding.. Thanks to our awesome home teacher coming by to say He was the saving grace along with my Mom until Shawn and I could get home. So, that was taken care of..

We survived Christmas last year with wonderful Family and Friends who made it happen! We had a lot of Snow last year! Lot's of ups and downs.. I think more downs then anything, it seemed if something was going to happen it happened to us.. So, I am not going to be the poor me but I tell ya- don't pick off of the same tree: you will be in trouble =)

January 2011 was both Mine and my niece Ashlynn's Birthday- I really cannot remember anything happening, I have noticed my years since my brother passed away have become a blur so I really have been trying to keep a journal to look back and focus on those things that are good. Well, we did get a new Primary class and it had 4 boys and 3 girls, what a fun Primary class..

February- Shawn and I had our 10 year wedding anniversary, again we didn't do much but I tell ya for all we have been through together it could have been a 100 years. I am thankful for Shawn, he is a great guy and is such a hard worker. And... We made it to 10 years for those of you who thought we wouldn't =)

March- March was my nephew Dillon's birthday- (11) he's getting so big, it's weird.. he used to be that little baby we'd hold- well, not anymore. The end of March was Biz's 6th birthday- WOW I cannot believe it, time sure has gone fast =(

April- We welcomed a beautiful blessing into our homes, as I marked the 3 and 4 year mark of losing 2 of my babies we as a family were blessed with the birth of my niece Anniston Jala ~ she has been such a Joy to our hearts through the pain and loss of Trent, She has made my world so happy! I am glad she got here safely and Steph did a great job.

May- The end of May my little guy Ashton would have turned 7 years old, not a day goes by that I don't think of him.. I miss him and I love him- I still cannot believe I had him and I wish so much he would have lived, I often wonder what he thinks of me as a Mom or how he feels. I cannot wait to see him again.

June- School is OUT- Bugs made it through 2nd grade and Buzy made it through kindergarten.. Summer wasn't all that exciting, though we did hit a few fun things.

July- Dustin's Birthday- one year older =) I think this is when you count backwards.. July also marked the 2 years since Trent is gone, WOW really- 2 yrs and you really are gone- I am still in the denial/anger/everything else stage: I hope to one day come out of it, I am not sure that I will. It has also been a year since our good friend Tal passed away and my Grandma V- wow how time goes fast sometimes.

August- Samantha had her birthday and she was also kind enough to share her 7th birthday with Bugs: Bugs was baptized- after all the crazy stuff that went on it finally happened and we appreciate you Samantha for giving up your special day for Danica- it was a combined day of fun. The end of August the kids all started School:

Dillon- 6th grade

Ashlynn- 4th grade

Danica- 3rd grade

Samantha- 2nd grade

Bryhn 1st grade

Anniston- 4 mos. old

September- Dad's & Jer's Birthday- it also would have been Trent's 29th Birthday: WOW!! Trenty being 29... love him, we also got the final approvals ready for Trent's monument- it makes it final when you actually see there name in the ground =(

October- Somewhere along the way Steph and I did some night shift works for Pier 1 imports- it was exhausting .. but we made it. October is Halloween and I love Halloween: Me and my niece Ash were driving around and found a cool house: SO, we made sure we took the Fam up there on the 31st- we did and it was a blast, it had a haunted house; they also had hot chocolate.. Here is what the kids were"

Danica- started out and Frankie Stein then ended up as a Devil like her Sister

we had fun putting the costumes together.. My Mom was a Christmas Elf- we cannot forget her =) it was a lot of fun.

November- Mom and Steph's Birthday along With Danica on Turkey Day- this year D&S went to Las Vegas to stay with friends so the rest of us went to Turkey Dinner to "The Sizzler", it was SO much fun, we also celebrated Bugs- birthday. All in all it's been an ok year.

December:- Shawn had a birthday!! We were released from our Primary teaching calling and are now the Cub Scout (Scout Masters). Shawn also ran for Draper City Council- he did a great job, he didn't make it but it was SO close and he got his name out there and he is well respected and if anything, he can say he was clean about the way he ran his campaign even though there was smearing done from other parts. Employment has been a shuffle and I pray a new year brings on new meanings from all directions.

Shawn and I were set apart today at Church, the Bishop gave me my blessing and Brother Ward gave Shawn his- I feel so great listening to both of these men, and I really did take the time to listen to what they had to say; I needed the assurance of things in my mind and in my heart- and I know that both the Bishop and Brother Ward were in tune, they both gave a beautiful blessing. Things have been tough for us and I won't go into detail, I have also had a close friend leave the church and my heart seriously has broken ever since, she is AMAZING- I just love, love, love her and this has been heart wrenching for me! I am glad I was able to sit down and talk with her to get it off of my mind and let her know of the love I have for her- I pray all the time she will come back and I guess that time will tell.

I however am thankful for the gospel- and sure I have questions just like the next person but through faith and the atonement I know it's true- I loved my Primary class and today has been a bit hard, but I am so glad to have had comfort with 2 of my friends and sisters in my ward today- sitting side by side with them, 2 women I LOVE so much and felt so prompted last night to write each of them a card along with a message I gave them, it was so fitting that I'd walk in the room and right there was a seat right by one of the one's I had this card for. As time went on in Relief Society with the chair next to me empty- the other sister I had a card for walked in with tears and sat right by me, how fitting- I followed the prompting last night to stay up even though I was drained to write this card out and have it ready- and wow, both of them are sitting right by me today, that my friends is Christ- he knows the needs of other's as well as he knows mine and I am Thankful each day for the Family I have and those I surround myself with and those friends that have stayed to be my friends- who are genuine and really care. December updates!!!

Wow, I can hardly believe this month is almost over- it's been a crazy month with the Holidays, the kids being in and out of School, the kids' Parties at School, my volunteering, me getting sick, the car having issues, employment mishaps! You name it!!

We were able to get these pictures for free- it was so nice to be able to go somewhere and not stand in a big ole line for hours and hours just to see Santa!!! The kids all had a fun time.

My Cousin's husband went into the Pleasant Grove Library and look what he saw =) He sent me a message on FB and told me he saw the tree and was able to talk with the ladies who work there- they were so thrilled to know some history behind his tree- We were SO happy to do this tree!! It sold the first night- YAY for us and for the Memory of Trent.. We have purchased our tree ahead of time for next year, we are already putting our thoughts out there of what we are doing. This was so much fun and I thank again those of you who were involved and made it what it was.

Happy Birthday Babe! My husband turned 35, we are the same age now =) yep!! I am giving away my age; Whatever do I do!! I have to come to the terms I am getting older even when I don't feel it in some ways.

This is classic, it's a photo that has to make it into a book! Anniston did not want to sit on Santa's lap- she must have thought the same thing as the other girls, the eyebrows threw her off, ha! ha! ha! Isn't she so cute.

This is a funny story- well to me anyways =) So, we had a ward Christmas Party- some friends of ours in our neighborhood said that they were driving on the freeway one day trying to figure out who in the ward they could ask for help with the party- my friend Jody said she turned to her husband and they both at the same time said "Shalise", then started laughing- so here I was helping!! I helped them set up and etc. I then put a photo op together.. Stephanie is great at taking pictures- so I knew she would be a great help, I spent Friday night cutting out and making these cute props for the pictures- above is my bugs, my niece and buzy posing in one of the pictures- the other friends in the ward turned out WONDERFUL!! it was SO much fun, I am glad to have been able to help.

This is one of Bugs assignments at School- I kept it because I love what she says about a totem pole for your Family: She seriously has great handwriting but she gets in such a hurry at School they don't get to see much of it. This is what it says"

"Mine would represent freedom, consequences, love and hope. It would represent every one's dreams and everyone's family, a Dragon would represent bravery and strength".

This was SO cute!

This is special to me, a friend in my ward/neighborhood made this for me, I taught her cute daughter in Primary this past year. Me and my friend Kiersten have both had losses in our lives- it's never a fun thing but Kiersten is one of the most amazing people I know, isn't this such a clever gift! Thanks so much Kiersten.

I love this, Kitty made this for me- she was thanking me for being her Primary Teacher!

Shawn and I are sad we are no longer Primary Teachers we have loved our calling and it's sad to say goodbye to it, Shawn and I have now been called to the Scouting Program- we are now the new Cub Masters.. WOW! This will get interesting! I LOVE my Primary kids, thanks for teaching me this past year!

I stayed busy making all of these nest egg necklaces for friends, teachers, family etc. The girls all want one so I need to get started on one for each of them. It's great to have all the supplies and not have to buy any of them .

Bugs kissed his monument before we left, it's beautiful at the cemetery and yet so sad, I just got into the car and cried and cried- I still cannot believe this is real.

We look forward to this part of the year!! My favorite, I must say I was a bit slacking and got mine out in a hurry- next year I hope to have mine out in a creative and early way!

2011- Festival of Trees

This year myself, my mom and my sister in law did a 1st year of giving back- one tree at a time to Primary Children's Medical Center- My brother Trent who was multiply disabled spent so much time at Primary Children's Medical Center for numerous and sometimes draining moments. I have spent time up there with my 2 girls as well. We wanted to share with other's the love Trent shared with us as a Family. His favorite books were by Audrey Wood- He LOVED Silly Sally and Quick as a Cricket, he would laugh to Weird Parents, it was a nightly routine with Trent- My dad read to him every night. They eve read all the Hardy Boys series and there was a box of books my Dad had just bought for Trent but importunately never read them to him- they were brand new never opened and donated to our cause. There were SO many wonderful people who donated, My parents ward, Audrey Wood herself, My Aunt Melba, My Aunt Cindy, our friends Ryan and Carrie, Jen and Johnny, Jan and Ard, My friend Diana, Uncle Mike & Aunt Marilyn, My parents, SO many shared there talent and love for this tree and we appreciate YOU!!

Hey little Mouse

The mouse is a book end, it is about the The Little Mouse, Red Ripe Strawberry and The Big Hungry Bear! This was the first book Trent got and it continued onto many many more!

I bought this cute shelf at the D.I. and refinished it, it was SO much fun! We stained the birdhouses that are on the tree the same stain as well as the chairs and book ends!!

Aren't these stuffed animals SO cute! The hippo has a levi jacket and the frog has a bag full of more books.

Here is the digitized levi jacket, it's my Aunt's brand Toe-heads- if you want any work done on anything let me know~ She is SUPER good at it.

Trent always said Hi ya!! He always loved to wear striped shirts and he LOVED balloons, I miss Saturdays with him- I got him balloons every Saturday! My Aunt did the work on this bag as well, there are more books in this bag.

Last night we went to the Festival of Trees! It was so bittersweet, we went right to it first thing walking in the door. This is what we came up too!

A sign that said "SOLD", I am SO happy our tree sold, I thought we did a great job for our first year and I cannot think of 2 better people them my Mom and Steph to do this with, as well as my Dad- what talent they all have. Trent, I miss you and I am so thankful you were and still are a part of my life.

It was a bit ironic to read who purchased the tree. If you don't know or if you do you know that 7 years ago I lost a baby at 24 weeks, we named him Ashton~ I am not sure if there is meaning but in my heart I'd like to think that maybe they are both trying to tell me it's ok. I know Trent doesn't like me to cry, I try hard not too! I know he knows I am having a struggle with his death, if you have time please pray for me- I know I need comfort and I often wonder if loosing my little babies (3) of them was because it was preparing me for the loss of Trent! I don't know but I do know I am grateful I have had my 3 little babies and I was able to spend almost 27 years with Trent.

This was my goodbye picture, We left! I got into our car and I cried and cried I just couldn't help my emotions! It's another first and another realization that he really is gone, I am not sure I will ever get out of the denial stage~ Thank you Thank you again for the donations- we had a quilt made by my parents ward it was so darling and so soft , the donations once again were what pulled this tree together- every item was donated! Thanks SO much for the love so many of you have for Trent. Also the tree to the left is our friends Russell and his wife, we were decorating on Monday and he comes walking around the corner sure enough he was our neighbors- I cannot think of better tree neighbors, it's exciting that there tree sold on bidding night as well!

Thanks again for your support!

We are glad to give our donation back to PCMC for all the years with Trent and even my girls.

Chocolate Chip Cookies- Kroger Brand

I was lucky enough to be selected by bzzAgent to test the product of the Kroger Chocolate Chip cookies, I was super excited when 2 boxes were sent to my house, I had in my mind that I was going to take a picture of the kids eating them so I could post it on the blog~ Well, I didn't get the photo op.. My kids and my nephew and Nieces scarfed the cookies down, I had to hide 2 of them from my husband! You would have thought they were chips a hoy, they taste almost the same- even better.. Kroger is the store brand from Smith's etc. Mostly store bought is not that great, so they say- I beg to differ.. We LOVED these cookies, plus they were big in size- we will be buying them again. Thank You for allowing our home to test and taste this yummy product.

Ok, I am really trying to get up to date on my blog.. I have to post back to July I believe.. I will work my way through it, So.. Here is the latest going on in our household.. I am proud of my husband- he is running a campaign right now for Draper City Council, he is such a GREAT Guy and would be such a wonderful addition to our city. I see this as an experience, if he get's in GREAT.. Changes will take place! If he does not, it's an accomplishment and experience.! I have learned SO much about the way that I vote- I will no longer just vote someone in because I am NOT paying attention to what is going on, I will VOTE because I

believe in that person and have read the information and the platform.

Can you imagine walking up the latter with a pumpkin? These men do this all the time in a fire or to rescue someone- Thanks Firemen: we appreciate them!

Festival of Trees

It's official, we are registered for our VERY first Festival of Trees in honor of my awesome brother who left this earth 2 years ago, Trent was SUCH an inspiration, I am so behind on blogging.. I need to catch up, but here we go- I go to the first meeting tomorrow. I must say I was thinking of doing a 6ft tree and up until I read all the rules and it started to get a little too much. So, we changed to the 5ft tree- (not so many rules), We are receiving donations from some wonderful friends and Families.. My parents ward Enrichment made a list of books from the wonderful author Audrey Woods- you can go to her website to review her books and also to see the information behind them and sign up for her newsletter. Audrey has been SO wonderful, today I received a book Silly Sally in the mail from her today~ She has been so wonderful to help us with Trent's favorite books..

Audrey Woods website has such fantastic information and her books have become a favorite amongst my kids as well, they all know that she was Trent's favorite author. We are doing a storybook theme based off of Silly Sally! FESTIVAL of TREES!!

My Family will be doing our very FIRST Festival of Tree's, the Festival of Tree's are 100% donations.. All he money earned for each tree goes to Primary Children's Medical Center in SLC, Utah- We as a family are SO VERY grateful for PCMC they had done SO much for my brother Trent. Our Tree is in honor of Trent.

Trent passed away July 13, 2009 he was 26 years old: Trent was multiply disabled and was born 3 months early and suffered SO much in his life, he ended up passing away from a liver abscess; My Family miss TRENT SO SO much. Trent was our life and we have had to learn to somewhat live life over.. So, we are doing our tree in a storybook theme/reading; Trent LOVED to be read too. The last book that was read was one of his favorite: "Quick as a Cricket" by Audrey Wood: this was the last book read at his funeral, SO we are doing a tree with Audrey Woods books, We are wanting YOU to help us =) You can donate.. Festival of Trees information

Emotions!!

I am going back and forth on this blog being public, I haven't as you can see written on it for a bit. I decided I am also such an emotional person- more so then I believe I was before: So, here I am.. I feel like I need to post on this and spread the word a bit. My (8yr old) has a cute little friend named Averi: She and Bugs are joined at the hip when they can be.. Things changed a bit this year when Averi decided to go to the local school by her home rather then the charter School: So now they see each other but not daily! They are as they say still best friends.
I have gotten to know Averi's Mom and I sure love her! When Trent passed away Lisa and I talked a lot as she knew I was/is having a hard time w/his death. Lisa is also a hospice nurse and own's a hospice company! She is amazing and so sweet.. After Trent died we had talked a lot about it and she had stated how she hadn't really had anyone die and was not familiar w/it (as far as her family) being hospice she saw it in other's. Month's later her brother was diagnosed w/cancer and he ended up passing away.. So, long story short- her sister was then on the journey. If you get a chance Please go and read her blog (her husband) has done such a WONDERFUL job putting it together and I promise you it will bring you to tears but I think it will also bring you closer to Faith and to understanding of there being more out there. Jolyns Journey!!

It's such an emotional blog but it is honest and it takes you to each journey since her diagnosis 7 months ago. Sadly September 7th Jolyn passed away, my heart is so full as I continue to read. I feel so strongly about this amazing sister of Lisa and I feel as if I knew her. My love and prayers are with all of the Family as they carry on through the hard days ahead missing there loved one.

JoLyn Heder Hansen, 51, returned to her Heavenly Father Tuesday evening, September 6, 2011.
She was born Aug 22, 1960 in Libby, MT a daughter of Walter Morgan Heder and Mable Isabel Orr Heder. She graduated from Brigham Young University, Cum Laude in 1985. She served a mission for the LDS Church to the Costa Rica, Spanish Mission 1981-83. JoLyn married Chad Hansen (the luckiest guy in the world) May 1, 1987 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints Glacial Park Ward.
Surviving are her husband Chad and their two handsome sons, Marshall (his adorable wife Raycell), Grant; and their four beautiful daughters, Kandalyn, Bethany, EmmaLee and Noelle. Marshall and Ray are expecting their first grandchild in March. JoLyn is also survived by her parents, Walt and Mabel Heder and three brothers, Lane, Quinn and Bill and two sisters, Laurel and Lisa. Preceding her in death was her brother, Van Orr Heder.
We want to thank all those who loved and cared for JoLyn. Our family has experienced an incredible outpouring of love during JoLyn's illness.
Services will be Sat. Sept 10, 201111 a.m. Glacial Park Ward Chapel, 2675 E. Mount Jordan Rd. Sandy, Utah. Friends may call Fri. Larkin Sunset Gardens Mortuary, 1950 E. 10600 S., Sandy 6-8 p.m. and Sat. at the church 9:45-10:45 a.m. prior to services. WOW- It's going to be a LOOOONNNGGGG night, my 8 year old is trying to help my 6 year old get her loose tooth out- Really at almost 11:00 at night... Let's just see about that.

Ok- Crying Moment- Team work: Danica and Bryhn got Bryhn's FIRST tooth... GRR I am sad for a few reasons- My little one is growing up and 2nd I LOVED the team work they had going.. Great work girls... I guess it's 3 reasons- Bryhn just saved us $100 Danica has cost us over $400 w/her's having to be pulled.

Going Private!!

Hi Friends, My husband and I have talked and we have decided I should make my blog private for a bit! As you know or don't know my husband Shawn is running for Draper City Council and we feel that during the next few months there are some things said that should be left private (not that I have anything to hide), I just know how it goes with politics and I know how people can get so we have made this choice and I will open it back up in November (after elections are over):

Buga Boo

This was back in July 2008- LOVE these pictures, but most of all I ♥ these 2 girls with everything in me. It breaks me how fast the time has come and gone and how fast they've grown. July was ALWAYS a favorite Family time we so looked forward to it because Trent LOVED the fireworks- we have now had to try and make new traditions.. Last year we went up to a Hotel and stayed and went to the parade, it will carry over again this year- EXCITING, its so hard to make new traditions but yet it is something that needs to be done.

Happy times with Trent on the 4th were the following 4.

He had the best smile with so much Joy- he seriously lit the fireworks with his smile.
He laughed, and he laughed- whenever you heard a BOOM, or Crack, Crack, Crack- he would laugh SO hard.
He LOVED to just be with Family, no matter what that was the most important part of the the 4th.
He LOVED to run over pops with his wheelchair, he loved when he knew we were making a line in the road for a car to drive over them, and of course his beer drinking buddies- around the corner, his friends that LOVED him SO MUCH...

Traditions we are starting or are trying to start on the 4th/24th of July:

Going out and having fun, focus on what Trent loved and try and not feel sad knowing he's not there (that's pretty hard).
To make pictures and tie them on balloons and take them to the cemetery.
Going to see the floats before the 24th of July Parade.
Going and staying in the hotel in SLC and waking up to go to the parade... Being with FAMILY!

Happy 4th of July 2011- I hope everyone had a fun and safe Holiday, I am so behind on all my blogging so I will start wit what I have and then go back :)

Here is my cute little niece Anniston she is 2 months old and she is so much fun- look at her cute little arms and legs it's so fun to have a baby.. even if she isn't mine Ü

Here are some cute girls, Bugs and Buzy- Bugs with her cousin Samo, I could not get Ash to get in the picture but we had a fun time at the park.

The kids' had more fun on the exercise equipment then anything else, I think they had fun with there Uncle Jer

Bugs took her Xanadu skates (that's what she calls them). So glad hey had so many options between the scooters and the skates and the playground.

Kiddo's and the ANNOYING ice cream truck that also haunts our neighborhood. We had a fun 4th of July, went to the park then made our way to the fireworks.. Family is what is important.

Princess Diana - Happy 50th Birthday!

I will always remember the Beautiful Person Princess Diana was, I always wanted to meet her and always dreamed of the day I would, I came close in 1995 - it was with Prince Charles though- the total opposite of the Princess.

Pizza Pie Cafe'

Good Work Kids- ALL of the kids got free tickets from School to the Pizza Pie Cafe' they had SO much fun, I am so glad we got everyone in for free- we had such a fun time, of course they loved the pizza and the ice cream and bugging one another- the salad bar was my favorite- it had rained all day, by the time we got there it had stopped. It was not busy at all and I think that makes it so much better Ü

The kids also had $5 coupons- I cannot even remember how much but enough to have 2 cards so I am thinking $10 each that were also given to them at School- they had so much fun playing the games and being by the old chevy.

Bugs Loves to bug Dillon- and it's good for him..

Here is the ride it's like a roller coaster- me and Steph also took a ride, it was a lot of fun and the games were so cheap and made it so they still had plenty of money on there cards.

Frozen Yogurt!

The girls received coupons for free Frozen Yogurt from Golden Spoon- I took them one day when there really wasn't anything to do.. Yes, I know I am boring Ü the "free" frozen yogurt were small in size but look how BIG they were. The kids LOVED them, we sat inside and we had a girls hour just talking while they had there yogurt! Good work girls for your free yogurts!!

The last day of School- bugs and buzy are moving up-

It's going to be so weird having both kids in School all day- I am so sad, I am also so happy for them to continue to progress but where did the time go- I just cannot believe these 2 little miracles are all grown up..

I love you girls and I am so glad your my kids thanks for all your hard work.

Here is lady liberty that Buzy did in her art class.. Sure is cute..

I was going through some of the paper work and on the back of one of the papers of buzies was this picture- I took it out and asked who the picture was.. She said that it's a picture of her PaPa- I thought that it was so cute so I kept it for my dad.

Bugs has sure had a hard time with Trent's loss (as have I)- she spent every Wednesday with the School counselor and she loved talking with him. Here is a picture she brought home of her and Trent, I wish I could remember what the writing was but it was something like them being together forever, I am not sure but thought it was darling..

Here is a picture that the Kindergarten teachers' took of Buzy- and all of the other kids: (we just got the picture after School was out)- she was the cutest pink poodle EVER.. here is her picture of herself she drew, wasn't it so cute.

Here are some more art work of Bryhn's they have a score in kindergarten 1-4 and her teacher Mrs. Tyler said that she has NEVER given a 4 to any other kid- she said her handwriting is SO beautiful.. Buzy LOVES School and she LOVES to learn and she has so much respect for her teachers and get's upset and sad when the kids talk out or do not listen to what the teacher is saying- her teachers LOVE her as of course we do (yep I am bragging).

Every Year the School does an art gallery stroll, this year bugs stayed home with her cousins but Buzy went with Shawn and I - the kindergartners were singing a few songs for those looking at the art work- she sure was cute.. I had to put a funky face on one of the kids because it was a horrible picture- oopps.. sorry kid!!

The kids LOVE LOVE LOVE art and we as parents LOVE that the art program is at School - art is so relaxing for my kids they love to express themselves through art and I am so glad they have done so. Here on the top left corner is Buzy singing- the top right hand corner is bugs art work and the bottom left is bugs picture.. Good Job girls, thanks for all of your beautiful work and for expressing yourself so nicely.

4- Square with duct tape

The kids had so much fun playing 4-square, it was first out of chalk and then they decided to get creative and due duct tape, we let it go for a while (well a few hrs.) and then made them take it down because we did not want the city to complain or a neighbor- you just never know these days... But, the kids had so so much fun- they were playing each night til dark and we practically threatened (ok begged) them to come in ... Were glad they were so creative and had so much fun with each other and the neighbor kids- we adults had a fun time playing as well.

Bugs last book report was to do a puppet and then play the character out to the class as well as write the book report- they had to write a letter to the main character- it turned out so cute, I had the pattern for the puppet saved, we used it last year for another story we went to click here for the pattern it is such a simple stitch and then turn it inside out and decorate- I colored the yarn, it was cream and needed it brown: SO I tole painted it and let it sit over night- I had the eye's, the fabric and all the bling to go with it and it turned out great... of course she got a high score, I loved it- and she loved it and that's what makes it all better, she put all of it on and I told here where it went..

jogapalooza 2011

This is a yearly fundraiser at the kids' school- it is also the only fundraiser they do the entire year: it was actually such weird weather it was a bit cold . Here is bugs- I was able to run with both girls, Here she is warming up and then sitting down with her friend Avery-they all got there own powerade at the end of the run and then there was the drawing for prizes.. All in all they had a fun time.

Here is bugs w/her crazy hair day her last week of 2nd grade :( we didn't want all the funky colors going in her hair so we came up with the crazy bun hawk, she wore different earrings and of course had a fun time with it.

Here is buzy- her last week of kindergarten :( we did crazy buns all over her head- she then added the bow for extra touch..

Egg carving

My dad had a project and he blew out the egg and then to help so that the egg would not break he carved some putty like stuff and out it around the egg and added the googly eye's and put it in another egg- it's pretty clever I must say and it's sure cute as well..

Here is my oldest Bugs- holding my sweet little niece, it has been so much fun to have a baby in the house.. Of course she has SO many Mommies with the 4 little girls who all think they are in charge. Bugs thinks Anniston is so cute- as do I :)

Memorial Day 2011

Top left is a picture of all the grankids (minus new baby Anniston) these kids were who Trent looked forward too. He sure loved these kids and would always say "kids, kids" as he rocked himself on the couch- Oh how were missing you Trent we seriously miss you to pieces it's been so hard without you.. I am blessed I had YOU in my life. We don't have a headstone yet- hopefully by his Birthday in September... were working on a few details and will explain that in a later post depending on what happens either way.

As you can see we have balloons- every Saturday I got Trent balloons from the dollar store- they were his favorite and he LOVED the smiley face one's..

The picture on the right is one of my Dad's carvings.. My Dad loves to carve and spent many times on 700 East in Sandy carving as Trent sat on the grass between 2 big pine tree's clapping as the cars would go by.

the kids up on the top left are looking at a little boys headstone- it's a beautiful one I believe his name is Cade- he has spiderman all over- he you can tell was a huge spider man fan- the kids were reading and were so impressed with it's beauty.

The second one from the right is a little boy named Riley- he was one of Trent's cute little friend and he passed away I believe when he was 6 years old, I remember care bears were such a hit around this time, My oldest Bugs was reading his marker and making sure it was cleaned off and my 6 year old turned and said "Mom at least Trent has some friends in Heaven", yes it's so true- he has many many wonderful people in Heaven- we just miss him here on earth.

On the bottom left are my 2 girls, I sure love them and I look at them with amazement I cannot believe they were once 2 and 3 pound babies- what an honor it is for me to have them in our lives.

Top left corner- my friend Brad who passed away a few weeks before Trent- I tell ya it was such a hard year with so many wonderful people passing away. Brad was such a great guy we dated in High School and he had such a fun fun sense of humor- he left behind some cute kids and my prayers are with there mother daily- I cannot imagine raising kids on my own- my hat is off to those that do.

bottom left, the kids are always on this monument- it's right by where my grandparents are buried- I wonder what the fascination is but they sure do love it. Top right is Cheryl- she was ALWAYS a second Mom to me and my siblings, I love an miss Cheryl everyday- there is nobody else that is like her.. I am so glad she is able to be there to take care of Trent.

Bottom right is of a beautiful young girl- you often wonder what happens to some of these darling people and just find such beauty and personality by the way there families celebrate them.

Bugs by my grandparents- My grandma passed away July 16, 2010- 1 year and 3 days after Trent, it's still hard to believe that she is gone, I love and miss her and my grandpa.

Such a beautiful place even when its sad and we miss them so much..

I had to plug in this easter picture because I don't want to have to go back and repost- I spelled Trents name with the colored plastic easter eggs and took some flowers from my garden and put them in a vase.. Sure miss ya buddy.

~ I sure love our girls and feel blessed each and everyday that they are a part of our lives~ I miss them as younger kids but sure enjoy the girls they are becoming- I think the challenges are more so as they get older.

i have a lot to catch up on with blogging- it's been crazy, nothing exciting to report but a lot of posts to get on here if I am ever going to make this blog into a book :)

Obituary- Betty Staples

* This is my mother's Aunt: My Grandma Stevens and Betty's husband were siblings.. I remember Betty being a beautiful lady and was always so sweet and kind, I remember the Staples reunions and how fun we had up in Kanosh Canyon!! My Mom said that my grandpa always said he liked Betty and that she was such a smart girl. As you read her obituary you can see how educated she was. My prayers are with the family.

Betty Whitehead Staples "Life-Long Learner" Our beautiful mother, Betty W. Staples, 81, adored grandmother, sister and friend, passed peacefully on Saturday, June 11, 2011. With children gathered round, she was re-united with her loving husband, parents and grandson in their heavenly home.Her dance of life began March 1, 1930 when she was born pre-mature at the L.D.S. Hospital in S.L.C., UT. She is the daughter of Richard Owen Whitehead and Emma Pearl Olpin. Momma lived a lot of places as a girl and spoke of the wintery times in Nevada, when in horse-drawn wagon, she would ride to school. Her love for learning began with the many books she would read around the fire. She found her heart in the gospel and her security in education. Evenings were spent around the radio listening to Lux Radio Theater, Jack Benny, Bob Hope and Jack Armstrong. She loved it when her Daddy would play his guitar and sing. Her parents owned a piano before they had electricity. She learned to play and later shared the gift of music with her children. Her high school years were spent with activities; track, basketball, plays, newspaper, yearbook, dance committees, piano lesson and playing the trumpet in the Pleasant Grove Marching Band. She graduated Valedictorian of her class. Uncle Ray Olpin took her under his wing as she took her next steps attending the University of Utah on scholarship. She played the trumpet in the marching band at the U of U football games. She chose to go on a mission for the LDS church. She served in the Western Canadian Mission for two years. After her release, she met Dad in a religion class at the BYU and married on March 4, 1954 in the Salt Lake Temple. Over the next 12 years she had nine children, seven sons and two daughters. She finished her college education at BYU doing night classes until she graduated with her Bachelor's Degree, Phi Cappa Phi, in 1967. She taught school for 23 years at Whittier and Truman Elementary schools. After retiring, she and dad served missions in the San Jose California, Jordan River Temple and the Toronto Canada Temple. She dedicated much of her time in service to the community and held many callings in the church. Her testimony of Jesus Christ was strong and is held as a beacon of light to her family. Dad would call her "an elect lady and her worth far above rubies". Thanks for your quick sense of humor, the half glasses of milk, and songs around the ol' piano, the poems, all the giggles and bed-side prayers. We love you and miss you as your dance continues in heaven. Survived by her children: Mark (Jana), Scott (Susan), Brent (Debbie), Jonathon (Denice), Deborah (Kevin), Lisa, Ben (Brenda), Paul (Corin), Richard (Jennifer) and her 40 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and four on the way; her siblings, Richard Whitehead (Elaine), Steve Whitehead (Betty), JoAnne Brady (Ross). She was preceded in death by her parents, Owen and Pearl; her husband, Mark and grandson, Jackson. We appreciate the love and care received at Legacy Retirement, Access Hospice and Our House Assisted Living. Funeral services will be held Friday, June 17, 2011, 11:00 a.m., at the Taylorsville Utah Central Stake Center, 4950 South 1950 West, Taylorsville, UT. A viewing will be held Thursday, 6:30-8:30 p.m. at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road and Friday at the church, 9:30-10:30 a.m. prior to services. Interment, Valley View Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Perpetual Education Fund.

During his brief time with us, Justin Michael Yates was and is still a beloved husband to Sally and father to Walker, Coleman and Dawson. He was and remains a loving son, brother, uncle, cousin and friend to all. Justin was born March 6, 1974 to proud parents Michael Lynn and Nancy Ann Yates.Justin’s primary and secondary education was local, graduating from Hillcrest High School in 1992. After an honorable mission to the wonderful people of Brazil, he earned a bachelor’s degree in finance from BYU. Following his temple marriage to Sally on January 19, 1999, he earned a master’s degree in business and information systems from Utah State University. Justin is preceded in death by older brother Chad Michael. He is survived by his wife Sally and three delightful sons Walker, Coleman and Dawson; parents, Michael Lynn and Nancy Ann Yates, Jeffery Michael Yates (brother) and wife Lisa, Kimberly Lynn Yates (sister), Kristi Yates Crockett (sister) and husband Michael. For those who knew him well, Justin was generous with his time, talents and resources. He was an avid outdoorsman, who delighted in sharing his love of sports like skiing, four wheeling, snowmobiling and boating with family and friends. Justin was also an accomplished master at the outdoor grill as well as in the kitchen. Wherever the Yates family live friends, neighbors and family members alike come to anticipate neighborhood parties – usually spearheaded by Justin – featuring his homemade specialties like 4-alarm chili and outdoor movies on the big screen. In the early years of their marriage, Justin and Sally also established the tradition of their Christmas morning open house, where hungry friends, neighbors and family congregate to share the holiday spirit and enjoy Justin’s offerings of highly spiced omelets, fluffy waffles and of course, chicken ala king. Justin possessed the rare quality of being able to make a fast friend of almost anybody he met. He had an engaging sense of humor and was sincerely interested in people. He was without guile. People enjoyed being around him because he instantly put them at ease. He was unassuming, non-threatening in his demeanor and non-judgmental of others. He was the quintessential people person. Justin demonstrated a deep understanding of the spiritual roots of human relations – we are all brothers and sisters, spirit children of our Father in Heaven. How he treated people was just an extension of his love of the gospel of Jesus Christ. Family and friends may attend the viewing on Sunday, June 5, 2011 at the Larkin Mortuary, located at 1950 East and 10600 South, Sandy, UT 84092 from 6:00-9:00 p.m. A second viewing will be held prior to the funeral on Monday, June 6, 2011 at the Traverse Mountain Stake Center, 2030 West Chapel Ridge Road, Lehi, UT 84043 from 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. Funeral services will occur at the Traverse Mountain Stake Center at 12:00 p.m. Interment will be at Larkin Sunset Gardens Cemetery, located at 1950 East 10600 South, Sandy, UT 84092. Justin is already sorely missed by all who knew and loved him. His sons adored him and wife Sally is devastated at his untimely passing. Although friends and family alike mourn the loss, today we celebrate his life and the many ways he enriched ours.

Another Angel Get's his Wings- or shall I say fly's home...

Chadwin Roger Atkinson 3/2/1983 ~ 5/30/2011 Chadwin Roger Atkinson, Beloved son, 28, passed away on May 30, 2011, at Intermountain Medical Center surrounded by his family. Born on March 2, 1983, Salt Lake City, Utah to Roger William Atkinson and Polly Berdine Atkinson. Chad graduated from Alta High School and was last attending Danville Services. We want to thank the wonderful staff for making his time there enjoyable. Thank you to Heather Smith for helping us get things done for Chad. Thank you to Erin and the Hospice team. Words alone cannot express the immense void Chad has left in the hearts of his family and friends, he leaves this life with a piece of each of our hearts. Chad found enjoyment in things that cannot be bought "Love, Life & Laughter". Chad is survived by his parents, Roger W. Atkinson and Polly B. Atkinson; his brother, Cameron D. Atkinson; his grandparents, Blaine Atkinson and Shirley Atkinson, Eldon Sorensen and Carol Sorensen; many uncles, aunts and cousins. A special "Thank you" to Chad's Aunt Jalaine for her tireless help and loving care, Uncle Jim for finding fun things to do, and cousin Hailey for making me laugh. I am a bit overwhelmed with today- I have been behind on my blogging and it seems that I have some amazing people to blog about that have passed on and then another hit, another great person passes away: You will understand it a bit more.This is Chadwin- I remember him as Chad, he was Trent's friend... I remember cute Chad with blonde hair and beautiful eye's that would look up at you. My heart breaks with emotions as the family endures there loss- it's such a painful one, one of Christ's Angels' who already had his wings, he just had to fly. May you forever be remembered Chad-

Week in Review- I suppose

I am trying to think what has gone on over this past week- it seems like it went so fast.. On Thursday Night we took all the kid's to Classic Skating- my kids School paid for the kids to get in and we could bring our own skates and scooters (or rent there's), we had the kids s&s and off we went- the kids all had a BLAST and enjoyed the 2 plus hours we spent there.. When we got home things got a little bit tricky when it was time for bed- my Sister in law came upstairs and said we had a little situation (a water situation).. come to find out with the lovely rain we have received, we should have known it was going to happen- yep, our basement flooded, but ya know the saying- "when it rains it POURS", the same day my brother's unemployment identity was trying stolen but luckily unemployment caught it in time.. my cute little niece Anniston has been dealing with her own issue's only 3 weeks old and she is allergic to breast milk all the way to pretty much EVERY formula you can think of.. I feel so bad for her- Hopefully were (or they) ha! ha! They live here so I say we :) are getting to the top of things for the sweet baby..She is seriously the BEST baby and such a CUTIE

We are all SO in LOVE ♥ with this baby and we pray she feels and does better..

So, Friday Night bugs had a swim birthday party- her friend has a pool in there backyard (ya lucky), so thankfully the weather was well enough for the few hours they were all out there to enjoy themselves. She came home from the party and asked if her and my niece could go sleep over at another friends house- she was at the party as well and another of there friends, she is also in our Stake- so not being a huge sleepover fan I went ahead and let her and Ash go- I knew they would have a fun time and the next morning they had a Achievement Day camp with our Stake so her friends sweet Mom took all of them to that.. So bugs sure had a BUSY weekend..

Saturday, the ONE day of actually having NICE weather- I woke up pretty early and went outside and mowed our lawn and weeded almost my entire yard.. I only have a tiny bit left and then some planting I will go. I helped my neighbors plan out some things in there yard- they are so cute they said if they were rich they would pay me to do there yard.. I LOVE doing yard work- I don't try and one- up my neighbors: it is an honor to have such a beautiful yard- I learned SO much by watching my parents take care of there yard, I think them having me out and mowing and weeding at a young age brought me to the appreciation of doing so. I often dig up or give out bulbs, flowers or seeds to my neighbors and I know they are appreciative of it- I love living next to neighbors who are your friends and who are just great examples of love. Buzy had her a birthday party to go to as well- it was a "Movie star" party- so cute, they went and were dressed up there hair, nails, makeup and a feather boa as well as there picture taken on the "pink carpet" with the birthday girl.. What a cute and FUN idea- I have been creative with birthday presents and have been making them, I made bracelets for both parties and my sis in law does bows so we did that as well as a few other things..

One of the bracelets that both of my girls liked I took a picture of so I can make them one- they both wanted to keep it, I told them we were making gifts - they were pretty happy, Bugs said that her friend told her " tell your Mom she is the BeSt", she didn't have any bracelets and the one I did for her had cute cheerleader charms on it, she said "this is one of the best presents". I thought that was cute.

I thought it turned out cute as well.. My kids both said Mom- it was fun seeing them like the bracelet and bows"

I also loved them saying to me after we went to Classic Skating; "Mom Thanks for taking us to have a fun time". I love that my kids have and show appreciation- you often wonder if your doing something right as a parent.

So- that was the Friday/Saturday event- My body killed after the yard work but I was SO glad to get it somewhat DONE; I miss being out there- darn rain.. Darn weather; Darn floods..

So, here we are to today- Sunday, the craziest day of them ALL- We went to church: sacrament was wonderful our new 1st and 2nd counselors and there wives spoke and they did a WONDERFUL job- had I known the rest of the day was going to be draining I would have opted at staying home in bed.

We got to our Primary class- we are in the Jr. Primary and bugs goes to the Sr. Primary- so they are in class while we are in opening exercises I sat down with our cute little bunch (all of there cute faces were there but 2). We got all settled and our counselor was leading the music until just then you could here SCREAMING and in walked bugs with a cute friend in our ward (thanks Jane) she was holding onto Danica as she screamed with blood everywhere and said "I am not sure what happened", So, Shawn took it from there- we both could not leave our class so he took bugs out- at that moment I honestly just sat there- no surprise at all: it seems that there is one thing after another- nothing seems to jar me or surprise me or freak me out- it's like I am just there in the moment.. Ugh!! is what I thought. My cute class wondering what was going on- I knew we'd be going to the urgent care: (we have no insurance) of course we will... trials continue to pile up- why would it be so simple at this moment.

Next thing I know Buzy sitting across from me said "mom whats going on", I said I don't know I am just waiting for Dad- low and behold Shawn came in and said "We have to go, Now"- I went up and told the counselor- I felt torn when I have a responsibility to my own child but also to these cute little one's looking at me worried- I went and told them we were leaving and we would have someone come into the class- one of the kids said; "well we can just go with you", ok- cute I sure love them.. I said well not this time (we NEVER) leave our class this class we have has never had a sub.. So, I grabbed buzy and left.. I went out to the car and my cute 8 year old crying/screaming in such pain.. She wants her papa and her nana and she wants TRENT- as she said that I about lost everything.. As many know the loss of my brother has been one of my GREATEST trials.. I could feel that lump in my throat and just hugged on her and told her to take deep breathes and not look at her bleeding fingers. We went home to see if we could clean it up and get some things we would need not having insurance and took her to urgent care- At this same time my Sister in law is getting ready to take my niece Samo (6) to Insta care- she was up all night with an ear ache..

We took off and Buzy was NOT going to stay- so we got up to the Urgent care: such a great facility (we have been there a few times Ü). Bugs did not want her picture taken but I managed a tiny picture of the small effect- it was much worse if I could have taken off the gauze

It was there at that moment I wanted to cry- I know we have a Heavenly Father who loves each of us- I LOVE my girls SO much and would do anything to take away there pain.. I thought there of Christ and there of my little brother who often endured MORE pain then any of us will EVER imagine. I taught Danica something that I was taught with my emergency c-sections: When I had Bryhn I had an amazing nurse in there while getting 2 epidurals explain to me my breathing and what I needed to do- I will never forget that moment and I taught those to my 8 year old as she cried and as she got 2 shots in her ring finger..

I managed to beg her enough to get a picture of her- her hair was a mess as she put it but I think she's pretty cute no matter what she looks like.

her ring finger got beat up pretty bad- her pinky was hurting her but it wasn't broken.. No broken fingers and no stitches needed- I thought great were on our way out- Um No, other stuff had to be done.. Ick Ick Ick

It was gross, she had her 2 shots and then had to go into another room where they do stitches, he had to do some cutting and some probing and blah- gross stuff to her fingernail and fingernail bed:: he didn't want to remove it but had to realign or whatever it makes me sick because I was watching them cut her skin and pry open etc. her fingernail will fall off and she has to wear this for bit and we now have to watch for an infection.. Were still trying to figure out what happened in her primary classroom, she said something about the boys being rough and one of them pushing her and when they did her hand went into the door as someone slammed it shut- were not sure and it seems a bit traumatic for her when we talk about it- she just cries because of how it hurt her.

YAY a smile- that was sure a long few hours

poor bugs.. so sorry this happened

2 girls- one went to Urgent care and one went to Insta care: same kind of place with different names, I told my sis in law I should have had bugs pretend to be one of her kids to get in with insurance; ha ha- insurance WHAT A JOKE.

So, bugs has been in pain with her finger since the numbing stuff came off and Samo had a VERY bad ear infection and is on medications... So here is to a BETTER NIGHT!!! It's thunder and lighting and rumbling out there, maybe this is the end of it all. Haa Haaa Haa..

Happy Mother's Day!!

My Mom is AMAZING- she has SO MUCH L♥VE in her heart!!

She raised 4 monsters :)

She ALWAYS made sure we looked great, often making all our costumes, My mom is SO talented she seriously can do ANYTHING.

She Loves us with all her heart

She has carried us through laughter and through tears- no matter what she has carried her share!

No matter the disabilities, she taught each of us to love- another trait we learned from Trent: We were taught UNCONDITIONAL LOVE- to love all people!

She taught us of the duties of work- even when we didn't want to do it, I still remember doing my own laundry when I was 8. I have mowed the lawn, pulled weeds, cleaned etc. I even had a job before I was 16- My parents taught us to WORK..

She let us watch her- we learned from her: we learned from the BEST

she took care of us through EVERY need, every holliday, every sickness- she was there

And she made us look good :)

She was there through happy times and made sure it all went smooth: not telling of any mishaps until after it was over, she provided us a way..

She was there when I had my babies some of the MOST scary times in my life- she was there when I lost my babies... at times when it was hard- I love my Mom, she is the best and she is a wonderful mom and Nana- I love you Mom: Happy Mother's Day..

A few weeks ago when I went over to go to lunch with my Dad and Brother my Dad and I had both noticed there one branch seemed much lower then usual but didn't think very much of it. I went into the house and my dad followed a few minutes later and said that it was broken from that big storm- I seriously wanted to cry, I know dumb but it took me back to the last time this tree was trimmed was months before Trent passed away, my brother Jeremy was up in the tree's trimming them and cute Trent was riding around in his wheelchair, I sucked my emotions and went outside with my dad and brother as Jer got on the ladder I helped pull as much as I could of the branch so he could saw it off, I wanted to cry- it's just amazing how the little stuff we take for granted can make the biggest pools of emotions.

In little things there is memory, in beauty there is LOVE

The tail of the missing Bear! We have looked EVERYWHERE for Bugs purple bear. This bear is so special to her because when she was younger her Uncle Trent was coming out from doing blood work and was given this bear- We went in where he was as he was crawling towards a walking Bugs- he looked up at her and handed her the purple bear. This bear has been SO special to her and she was SO sad when it wasn't found!

Just the other day My Mom came over with a suitcase and low and behold we opened it up and there was a purple bear- it wasn't her purple bear, it was a bear that nobody had seen before not even my parents.. I said to my Mom who's bear is this, she said isn't it D-bugs- I said No I have never seen this bear: Then my Mom said she had not either- so Buzy pipes up and said "well I guess it's my bear from Trent", we all just laughed- so now they both have a bear from Trent- that silly angel.

one of my favorite flowers- it reminds me of the little babies I have lost: this flower is called "The Bleeding heart", I have felt my heart bleed so many times on so many levels but I relish the beauty this plant possesses.

Bugs- very artistic, when I did my volunteer work in her class I put these pictures up and without really looking through them I stood back to look at the pictures and there this one picture was that stood out overall the other's ( i am not being biased) it was true; Bugs picture was the MOST colored and the BEST detail. I love how they LOVE drawing.

Our Family is lucky to announce the new arrival of my niece.. Were so happy Anniston is her and here safe and that my sister in law is ok as well. We sure love her already and of course she has many many mom's - I think to the point of annoyance :)

Anniston is such a fun and different name- it's fun because we can even call her Anni :)

Life can be Good!!

Life is good!!

A few weeks ago I saw this cool idea on a blog and I wish I would have wrote down the site to give them the credit.. I changed my title= there title said Life is Good, I changed mine to Life Can be Good.. The reason I changed it, is because as I have struggled with things or situations with what has gone on I feel that for my purpose and reason I think life can be good :)

So here it goes..

The whole purpose of this book is because there are so many wonderful things in the world and so much to be happy about despite any hard knocks we might be going through..

It is important that we learn happiness is a choice (often times a hard one) and to make it a habit of recognizing the good things in life. I feel it's important for my girls to know the happy things despite the tears they may see on me at times..

So here are the rules:

Everyone MUST right in the book- each family member and then pass it onto the next member
Each person must date there happiness :)
Each person must sign it..

it's so fun to look back and see what "small" things made the kids laugh!

Add character to your pages!!

Draw pictures- Here my 6 year old drew a picture of a pinwheel we got for the cemetery to take to Uncle Trent.. Bryhn was SO happy to pick it out and so happy to draw what she found.

Bugs my 8 year old - well she likes to get in a hurry and she told a little story on hers..

Overall it has been a fun family thing to start and I hope that my kids can look back at it one day and see all the happy things that went on.

Skin Cancer Screening!!

A few weeks ago I was watching one of my favorite shows in the morning The Daily Dish

they were talking to Huntsman Cancer Center about cancer screenings for skin /melanoma cancers.. They were doing the screenings for FREE! I wrote down the number and called right away- I got me and My Mom an appt. for a week later, after my scare back in November and being told my chances of skin cancer from that day were increased to getting melanoma I thought I'd better get in again. I have been reading a friends blog- I grew up with her husband my whole life and his wife is battling melanoma and she never used tanning beds; Here is her blog if your interested Go here to Alisa's blog she is SERIOUSLY AMAZING..

So, we went and did our screening I tell you what with ALL the experiences I have had with Doctors just putting the gown on made me want to throw up. My Mom was taken over to the womens side I am not sure how I was lucky to be on the Men's.. Hmmm! weird, in this screening it's a full body- and you walk in and the lights are SO bright there is NO denying any flaws in this room. So, my gown was on and I waited only a few until the Dr. and I am guessing a student came in. The first question they ask is have I been to a tanning bed? Um yes, I used to work at one- but I also let them know I haven't been to one for 10 years- nor do I plan on going to one again. The Dr. said to me " I always wonder why pretty girls go into the tanning bed", he said there are 2 things that come to my mind;

SKIN CANCER
OLD SKIN and WRINKLES

Him and the student sat and talked with me and we discussed my pre skin cancer I had in November he let me know of my risks and for the fact that it can come back and it can come back in other places to watch for it. He explained to me sunscreen and that it needs to be used 30 minutes prior to going outside and reapplied every 2 hours. I am FAITHFUL with my kids and I will do so MORE now that I had this scare.. It's enough to make me do everything I can. He did the full body search and told me I MUST go in EVERY year.

He told me I had something cool on my shoulder it's called Dermatofibroma

He said it was not malignant that it is benign.. The Doctors thought it was cool, I just ignored them Ü

So, I can say this will be a yearly thing we have done..

Afterwards we went to get a pedicure Thanks Steph and My Mom took us to Lunch- Thanks Mom.. We had a good day and it was nice to be able to get away for a while..

Morning thoughts!

I needed to post this due to the fact that I will be printing off my blog as books for both of my children. Today this is what I posted on my facebook account: It sure has been hard without Trent, My oldest daughter has had a REALLY hard time, they both have they spent every Saturday with him and life has changed so much.. We have allowed Bugs to talk with the School counselor and she does this every week, she came to Shawn and I and asked if she could go in and talk to him, we felt that it was OK and I had thought there was some progress but I have noticed the last week were starting back in the direction of it becoming hard for her again. It's hard to console your child when you yourself are still SO confused and SO mad about the ENTIRE situation related to my brother's death. I am THANKFUL SO MUCH that my daughter's were given the opportunity to know Trent, that right there is a blessing from the sweet Lord above.

Nothing is more sad then being woken up by your 8 year old who is sleeping and crying and shaking, I had to awake her to see what was wrong because she would not stop. She said "Mom I miss Trent so much", I miss him.. She said I never got to hug his body. It makes me so sad- I let her know Trent LOVES her SO much. I don't think anyone knows how hard this is.
